Mrs Julie Norcombe

Hi! I am Sodbury Vale’s manager. I’m married to Steve with two lovely grown up children. My journey with Sodbury Vale started as a dinner lady in 2001 working my way up through qualifications to gain a Ba Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies and an Early Years Professional Status in 2012 of which I am very proud. I also am Sodbury Vale’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer.

I enjoy watching the small steps that children make every day as they learn through play and I am fully committed to providing high quality education and care for all the children whilst treating each one as an individual.

I consider myself very lucky to be a part of such a talented and dedicated team.

Nic Bennett

Mrs Nic Bennett

Hello! I’m Sodbury Vale’s manager. I started work here in 2006 after both my sons had left Sodbury Vale to go to school. I was qualified as a level 2 teaching assistant and have since completed an NVQ level 3 in Early Years and Childcare.

I am the deputy safeguarding and child protection officer and the e-safety officer. I take pride in preparing our children for their next steps on to ‘big school’ – patience and consistency is a strong point of mine.

I’m happily married and we enjoy spending family holidays and weekends together.

I have a passion for photography and love socialising with my girly friends.

Anita Chard

Mrs Anita Chard

Hello! I have worked at nursery since 2003 and I am NVQ level 3 qualified . I worked in child care for most of my career

including being a nanny in London, an au-pair in Paris and then running my own business as a child minder. I like to

encourage the children to be creative and imaginative both indoors and out. I love my job and look forward to coming into work.

Mrs Julie Youell

Hello. I am NNEB qualified and have been working at Sodbury Vale since 2001. I really enjoy doing craft activities with the children.

When i am not in nursery i work in a local junior school as a Special Educational Needs teaching assistant.

Miss Nicola May

My journey with Sodbury Vale started as being a one to one support for a child with additional needs and then became a permanent position in September 2018.

I am working towards gaining my level 3 qualification in child care whilst working two and a half days at Sodbury Vale. When I’m not at work I look after my two young children and I like to do arts & crafts.

I really enjoy these types of activities with children at nursery.

Helen Venn

Mrs Helen Venn

Supervisor and Deputy Senco
Hello! I have worked at Sodbury Vale since September 2009 and I am NVQ level 3 qualified and the Speech and Language Champion. All of my three children have attended Sodbury Vale and my Mum was one of the original members of staff when it first opened.

Cooking with the children is my favourite activity. It’s wonderful to see the delight on the children’s faces when it’s all cooked and ready to go.

It’s also great to see the parent’s faces when they know they will have to try it when they get home!

Judith Bircher

Mrs Judith Bircher

Hello! I also joined Sodbury Vale in September 2009. I am NNEB qualified and have worked in childcare for a very long time.

I have had experience with all ages from 6 weeks to 11 years old.

Hello, I’m Lucy. I was new to the Sodbury Vale team in September 2017 and I’m really excited to get to know everyone.

I’m just completing my NVQ 2 in childcare and will be continuing my studies while expanding my experience at Sodbury Vale.

I’ve already gained some experience working with children as a Brownie Leader, a Saturday helper at a local baby ballet class and as a baby sitter.

I’m looking forward to building on my experience and knowledge to benefit the children here.
